Students of UWC Dilijan at the Green Training Center

This year, on April 30, we had the first meeting with young people at the Green Training Center.   On that day, the Center welcomed students of the Dilijan International School (The United World College Dilijan). The group of young people, who had come to Dilijan from different countries, started the day with an introductory meeting at the Green Lane’s office in Yerevan. They talk to the members of the Green Lane’s staff, learned about the activities and priorities of the organization and shared ideas about how to collaborate with Green Lane on green initiatives in the future.

The UWC students expressed a wish to visit the Green Training Center being established in Dzoraghbyur community of Kotayk province by Green Lane NGO and Green Life Ltd. The young people wanted to see what the Training Center looked like and how the construction, renovation and farming activities on the Center’s organic demo farm were going on.

During their day at the Green Training Center, the young people were accompanied by the Honorable Member of Green Lane Dr. Richard Funt, Professor Emeritus at Ohio State University and the President of The Armenian Educational University NGO. Dr. Funt, who had joined the Green Center’s team for that period at the invitation of Green Life Ltd and thanks to financial support received from the VISTAA’s Farmer-to-Farmer Project, made a presentation for the students telling them about the prospects the Green Training Center has.

We would like to mention that Dr. Funt assisted the Training Center’s team in planting the first blueberry, currant, gooseberry, asparagus and strawberry seedlings on the Center’s demonstration and experimental plot. These first plants will be further used for plant propagation. We take the opportunity to once again thank Dr. Funt and VISTAA for their continued support and collaboration. Also we would like to thank all our volunteers, who help us establish the Center.

We hope that, for the students of the Dilijan International School, the day at the Green Training Center became interesting and valuable experience that offered them one more occasion to think about green ideas. We hope also that in the future, we’ll see them again at the Green Training Center and Green Lane NGO.
