Eco- migration: Dialogue and Cooperation in the South Caucasus Countries for Better Life

On September 12, 2014, a Steering Committee meeting was held in the scope of the “Eco- migration: dialogue and cooperation in the South Caucasus countries for better life” project for discussing the following Thematic Policy Documents: 

o Categorization of eco-migrants,
o Forms of State assistance to eco-migrants,
o Compensation mechanisms,
o Criteria for State assistance. 

Project consultant Karen Hovhannisyan presented the policy documents, and discussions were held on a number of topics: eco-migration scenarios developed by corresponding international institutions, eco-migrants’ record mechanisms, state regulation principles of migration processes, prevention of emergency situations, population protection measures, seismic security, compensation mechanisms, etc. 

The above mentioned documents can be useful for the development and further improvement of the sector in Armenia.
Representatives from the State Migration Agency, State Employment Agency, RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and NGOs participated at the meeting. 
The project is implemented by “Green Lane” Agricultural Assistance NGO and the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN), and is funded by the European Union.
