Experimental Plot

The experimental and demonstration plot is used for hands-on trainings. On a small area, about 70 crops - greens, medicinal herbs, fruit trees, berries, traditional and non-traditional vegetable crops (sage, different kinds of thyme, chives, rosmary, parsley, crocus, different types of basil and mint, savory, oregano, lavender, leek, apples, pear, apricot, almond, plums, cherries, dwarf walnuts, nectarine, hazelnut, quince, cornelian cherry, blackthorn, peach, raspberry, goji berry, cranberry, currants, gooseberry, strawberry, thornless blackberry, white and purple eggplants, colored peppers and tomatoes, cucumber and other species of Cucurbitaceae family, broccoli, asparagus, physalis, artichoke, root, cauline, red, savvoy, Pekingese cabbage, Brussels sprouts) flowers are cultivated for demonstration purposes, taking into consideration their compatibility, soil requirements, etc.

At the Center, innovative crop cultivation methods, mixed sowing, mulching and other technologies new to farmers in Armenia are practiced. Drip irrigation system and anti-hail nets to protect the plants are also installed. Only safe technologies (mechanical and biological control means) are practiced for pest and disease control (pheromone, colored and other traps and baits). The soil will be fertilized only with organic fertilizers, produced locally (on site): small facilities for compost and biohumus production are also established.
