Environmental Seminar for Vanadzor Schoolchildren

In October 2014, “Green Lane” NGO, in the scope of the “Eco-migration: Dialogue and Cooperation in the South Caucasus Countries for Better Life” project, organized a seminar for about 30 students from different schools of Vanadzor. The seminar-discussion was on the topics of natural disaster prevention, sustainable resource management and sustainable agriculture.

Schoolchildren interested in environmental issues, as well as potential ecomigrants participated in the seminar. The “Prevention of Natural Hazards and Phenomena through Sustainable Management of Natural Resources” education material and “Sustainable Agriculture: Prevention of Natural Hazards due to Non-sustainable Agricultural Practices” teaching material, developed within the frame of the project, were provided to the attendees.

The participants were also given the “Natural Disaster Risk Reduction” manual developed in the scope of the “Enhancing Local Capacity and Regional Cooperation for Climate Change Adaption and Biodiversity Conversation in Georgia and the South Caucasus” project (implemented by organizations “Green Lane”, CENN, Mercy Corps, funded by the European Union).

The meeting was very interactive. The Local Coordinator of the ecomigration-related project answered the questions raised by the schoolchildren. The participants were given certificates.

The “Eco-migration: Dialogue and Cooperation in the South Caucasus Countries for Better Life” project is implemented by “Green Lane” Agricultural Assistance NGO and the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN), and is funded by the European Union.
